Take the PADI Open Water Diver Course!
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular entry-level scuba certification in the world! Why? PADI has designed the Open Water Diver course to make it easy for anybody to start learning to dive. If you are in good average health and comfortable in the water, you can become a diver. However, like any other activities, we need you to put some effort into learning it and of course, we need a bit of your time.
How Much Does it Cost?
The Open Water Diver course fee is RM950, inclusive of:
- Original PADI Open Water manual and dive table / dive calculator
- A dive log book
- Full scuba equipment rental during the course
- Theory class and pool (or confined water) session
- Professional instructor fees, and
- PADI certification card, upon successful completion of the course
To complete your Open Water scuba training, you will need to spend at least two (2) days on the island to complete four (4) Open Water dives to be a certified diver. Our island trips usually cost between RM600 to RM850 per person, inclusive of:
- Accommodation at a dive resort / chalet
- Meals
- Return boat / ferry trip to the island, and
- 4 - 6 dives (4 dives for the Open Water course plus 1 or 2 leisure dives)
So, budget around RM1,600 to RM1,850 in total for your PADI Open Water Diver course.
We are very transparent in how we do our business and give you all the information up front so that you know what to expect and how much to spend. We don't quote a cheap price in the beginning, only to tell you later that you need to pay additional money here and there.
What Do I Do During the PADI Open Water Diver Course?
The PADI Open Water Diver Course has 3 modules:
- Theory class (or Knowledge Development) - takes about 4 - 5 hours to complete, in one or two sessions.
- Pool session (or Confined Water) - takes about 4 - 6 hours to complete, in one or two sessions.
- Open Water dives. 4 dives required to earn your certification.
In addition, you will need to:
- Successfully pass the Open Water Final Exam, and
- Show us your water skills by either (a) swimming 200 meters, or (b) snorkeling 300 meters and water treading / floating for 10 minutes.
What Equipment Do I Need to Buy?
We will provide you all the scuba equipment you need to complete the course. Notwithstanding, many students buy their own mask, fins, snorkel and a wetsuit during the course because they can then choose equipment that fit them better or make them look better underwater. These basic personal equipment are relatively cheap too.
How Short is the Course?
You’ll be diving in less time than you think. Normally, it takes two (2) days of classes and swimming pool session here in Kuala Lumpur plus two (2) more days on the island. Or you can do the whole course with us on the island in four (4) days.
I Really, Really Don't Have Time But I Want to Learn to Dive!
You can with PADI. Here's how:
- Complete the theory (or Knowledge Development) portion of the Open Water course online via PADI eLearning. Click here to find out more or to register. You can do the theory class at home or whenever or wherever you like.
- Once you have completed the online class, then call or email us so we can arrange with our dive instructor a one-on-one pool session for you, which should take about 4 hours to complete.
Then give us one weekend so that we can arrange your island trip in order for you to do four (4) open water dives to complete the course.
Can my Children Learn to Dive too?
Children 10 years old can sign up for the PADI Junior Open Water Diver course.
After Certification, Where Can I Dive & With Whom?
We have diving trips both local and abroad at least once a month so once you are certified, as a diver visit our Dive Trips page and see what trips we have planned. Join us on our trips, make new friends, see new places and do new things, underwater.
I Would Like to do My Bit for the Environment
Excellent, we want to adopt you already! We organize at least two (2) marine conservation activities annually under Project AWARE (www.projectaware.org). Please check our Dive Trips page for these events. If the company you work for is planning to organize a "Corporate Social Responsibility" (CSR) programs, talk to us. We can co-organize the conservation event with your company.
